CPCCLDG3001 - Licence to Perform Dogging

Licence to perform dogging is designed for people who want to gain the skills and knowledge required to perform slinging techniques, including the selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane operator in the movement of the load when the load is out of view of the crane/operator for licensing purposes.


Dogging covers work in conjunction with cranes such as the use of slinging techniques, selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane operator in the movement of the loads. The dogging licence is the first step and is a prerequisite to obtaining the basic rigging licence.


This unit is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work and is a legal requirement for any person who performs dogging.

A high-risk work licence for dogging (class DG) is required by anyone who applies slinging techniques to a load, which includes: calculating safe angles for slings or chainsselecting the type of sling or chain to be usedselecting the correct method to secure the loadselecting the safe method to lift or turn the loadchecking the conditions of lifting gear for wear and tear.

What they need to bring:

  • Safe Work NSW criteria for 100 points of Identification. (You must supply 100 points including (1) form of current photo identification and proof of NSW address).

  • USI Instructions – Attendees must bring their USI number https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi.

  • Ensure you wear a long sleeve workshirt and work trousers

  • Steel Capped Boots are to be worn

  • Bring Sunglasses

  • Participants must be 18 years and over.

  • 100 points of Identification.

  • There are literacy, language and numeracy requirements in this course. Participants must be able to read and interpret clearly in English the required documents relevant to the course.
